Founded in 1996, Blue Heron Designs Inc. creates space and design solutions that integrate client's passions, accommodate their evolving lifestyle, and anticipate their future needs. Projects may include designing for more leisure, entertaining and exercise activities, renovating for aging parents or grandchildren, building a weekend getaway, preparing for changing physical abilities, or even downsizing.
Owner Donna Domenicali’s work has been published in the book, “Designed in New Jersey, An Exquisite Collection of New Jersey’s Finest Designers.” She has also been featured in Design NJ, Prime Woman magazine, the Asbury Park Press “On The Run” section, Star Ledger’s “Ask the Designer,” Exceptional Parent, and Monmouth Health and Life. She will also be in the 2010 book, “Asian Influence on American Architecture and Design.”
Donna's knowledge of universal design and aging-in-place are evident throughout her work. Her interest in these areas began during her years at the New York School of Interior Design and led to an introduction to Christopher and Dana Reeve, who allowed her to use their house plans for a senior year project.
As part of her company’s commitment to supporting community projects, Donna has participated in several Habitat for Humanity missions—most recently, the first Women Build home under Coastal Habitat for Humanity. She has also been a guest speaker for several nonprofit groups, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
